West Warwick edges Slocum, 3-2!

In a game that featured strong pitching for both sides, West Warwick edged Slocum, 3-2.

Liam Gravier, who will enter his junior year at WWHS, provided the winning run with an rbi single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning.

To start the game, Slocum scored two runs on six straight hits by Danny McNeil, Jake Morton, Geoff Coyne, Wyatt Daft, Braeden Perry (two-run single) and Mason Walsh.

In the bottom of the first, Liam Gravier reached first on a hit batsmen, moved to second on an infield single by Kyle DaSilva, advanced to third base on a bloop single by Colby Knott and scored on a groundout by Calvin Battersby.

West Warwick tied it up, 2-2, in the bottom fourth inning when Ty Condon led off with a single to left-center, moved to second on a single by Dylan Lombari, stole third base and scored on an error with two outs.

In the sixth, Condon once again led off an inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lombari, stole third and scored the winning run on Gravier’s timely hit rbi single to center.

For West Warwick, Alex Pedus and Andrew Sears combined to strike out 9 batters and walk none.

Slocum received solid relief pitching by Mason Walsh. Walsh, who did not give up an earned run, struck out five batters while scattering five hits in five innings of work.
